Why are there so many paintings of Napoleon?

And scenes from Napoleonic wars?

Was looking for a particular one and didn't realize there were so many.

It is because of the painterazzi that covered and followed his every step. Lady Di had it easy compared to the guys who followed Bonaparte, easels in tow...

Jacques-Louis David was a French painter in the Neoclassical style, considered to be the preeminent painter of the era

Great painter and a major political figure.

Almost everyone knows David's paintings, even if they don't know his name.
