Correct.

You won't see a Baw, much less a bae, at Yale.

Only nerds and queers.

I'm not pretending like I'm breaking news. I just want to know what it was that offended them. I just watched a 20 year old curse out a distinguished professor, just wondering why.

1 The university sent out an email asking students to be culturally sensitive with their costumes.

2 The professor's wife, also a professor, sent out an email with a counterpoint basically saying that college students should be able to endure the occasional obnoxious costume without going all to pieces. Her husband backed her up, sparking a backlash.

3. Complicating all this is that the husband and wife professors are co-heads of one of Yale's residential colleges, which means they have a closer relationship with students than an ordinary faculty member would. Some of the students felt that they should have been more sensitive, given their position. OTOH, when the professor was accosted, he was on his way to visit another of his students, who was in the hospital recovering from surgery.

TL/DR, it's typical undergrad bullshite, that nobody outside the gates of campus ever took notice of, but now it's the internet era and it's gone viral.

Even at Yale, free speech is fine so long as the liberals agree with what you're talking about.

Free speech is not fine if liberals disagree with your message.

I love how she told the professor what his job description should be. Even though being a professor has nothing to do with anything she described.

I completely agree with her. I'd like to think most adults would.

The idea that a white woman dressing up as Pocahontas on Halloween is offensive culture appropriation is absolutely ridiculous.

Culture assimilation and "appropriation" occur all the time. You can't stop it. It always occurs. It occurs when different cultural groups are exposed to one another.

It's not offensive, it's reality.

These kids are idiots.

Easily the best part.

And, a university is SUPPOSED to be a place where ideas are freely exchanged. The bully approach by SJW's tries to discourage opposing viewpoints, which is both inappropriate and not conducive to logical discourse.

I'm so glad I never saw this when I was in college. The only thing the weird nerds ever did was pretend to be zombies and wear teletubbies costumes

I think young, unintelligent people want to feel like they are part of some revolutionary social movement. This SJW stuff is easy because it attacks something all human beings possess: bias, whether it's good or bad.

Yes and it isn't new. That's why in the 60s and 70s you had kids who were sympathizing with communists, joining evangelical churches and then supporting Palestinian terror in consecutive months.

It's simultaneously about the desire to be unique, perceived as contemplative/academic, and the need for acceptance.

Well, as stated above, this guy's position involves more than teaching and research. He is, in a sense, responsible for the well being of the students in his "house," as they call it at Yale. Now, the girl goes way overboard with what that entails and how he should carry it out, but she's not wrong in the macro sense.

I read that after I made the post. But still, College in general is a place that challenges you to think and embrace opposing viewpoints. So what she's upset about undermines a foundational purpose of college.

He's thinking there is no direct threat to her safety.

It's not what she wants to hear.

He is their Master and knows when they are and aren't safe. The girl is on her period.

Because administrators, media, corporations, and government have decided that the patients should run the asylum. It's like parents who decide to just be friends with their kids and stop disciplining them or telling them what to do.

All holidays are offensive and I will not eat until they are all banned.

New Year's - Ageism and offensive to elderly who go to sleep at 8 PM, and if the prior year was a person, how would you think it feels?

MLK Day - Yearly triggers African Americans reminding all of his death

Valentine's - Single and ugly people mostly. But married men as well who feel forced into gift giving for no other reason than it's what the capitalists want

Mardi Gras - Flat-chested women. Tiny babies.

St. Patrick's Day - Irish oppression. Midgets.

Easter - Atheists

Tax Day - People who work for a living

Cinco de Mayo - Mexicans

Mother's Day - Fathers

Memorial Day - Germans

Flag Day - Chinese factory workers

Father's Day - Mothers

July 4th - The English, Democrats

Labor Day - Those on welfare

Columbus Day - Indians

Halloween - Nurses, Police, Firemen, School Girls, Blacks, Asains, Wicca

Veterans Day - Veterans

Thanksgiving - Indians

Presidents' Day - Voters

Christmas - Coffee drinkers

I think she ought to at least face some kind of disciplinary hearing for dropping f-bombs at faculty. She can argue to her heart's content loudly and proudly whatever retarded point she's trying to make, but treating faculty like that deserves some blowback, especially when the dude is being respectful enough to listen to her bullshite.
