What’s really amusing is the fact that curse words are just sounds coming out of the mouth just like any other word. Society has just collectively agreed that it’s a “curse” word and attached an emotional charge to it. It’s just a social construct just like everything else society has agreed to.

People tell everyone who they are with their words.

The correct answer.

That was always wild for me to process. She can’t handle cursing, specifically F-bombs. That was much worse than murder.
this is one of the few things I think Europeans are sort of right about

Americans are very weird about how we process violence vs sex.

Except words can and do hurt people. That’s the most ridiculous saying I hear people say. If I looked you in the face and called you a pussy little bitch boy for no reason whether it’s just a little or a lot it’s hurts you inside. Most people can’t handle offensive words thrown at them and they respond negatively. If a kid calls your daughter a fat whore. Emotionally they are broken. If words can’t hurt people we wouldn’t teach our kids to be kind to others.

I yelled at some old broad on YouTube about this. It was on a swamp people reel but their private accounts not history channel affiliated. She couldn’t fathom that in everyday life people on tv curse.

There have been societies who would ask you why you were triggered when they murdered an entire village after raping those worth raping.

Everyone draws a line of morality somewhere. Don’t begrudge someone for holding a different line than you.

FYI I cuss like a sailor.

My whole thing is “know your audience.” If you’re at the hunting camp with a bunch of men who are cursing it’s acceptable in my opinion to join in. If you are around a group of strangers it’s best to refrain- especially if children are present.

Some people are classy and some people are trashy, but we continue to skew towards more trashy people

I was walking in a grocery store parking lot the other day and each lane is one way. Traffic should be approaching me from the direction I was walking but I guess someone went the wrong way and was driving up from behind me. Some guy started screaming at the driver of the car “YOU’RE DRIVING THE WRONG WAY BUT YOU’RE FLIPPING ME OFF??? IT’’S DANGEROUS! Yada yada yada…and every other word was the F bomb. I thought how the screaming Karen had the moral high ground at first but instantly lost me when he started screaming curse words in public in front of men, women, and kids. The cursing showed he was a low class, poorly raised, hysterical Karen.

Curse words are verbal tattoos. I’d rather be around smokers.

I made sure to let my kids know cursing wasn’t socially acceptable and there were better ways to express yourself. Cursing is lazy and safe harbor for folks without discipline. They probably love Ozempic, too.

Na. You got to think rationally and be in control of your own emotions.
It can be difficult sometimes.

Well, simple. My father didn't allow it around his wife, so I don't allow it around mine. I don't get "triggered", I just ask them to stop. Its expected of me. .

If cursing triggers you then definitely avoid watching whiskey and wine

I had a voluminous off color vocabulary at one time and a few years ago decided to focus on deleting most of it. I’m happy with near zero cursing and now notice it much more when others are letting it rip.

I don’t get triggered but I don’t understand dropping the F-bomb every other word. If I’m watching something and that happens, I’ll turn it to something. It’s one of the reasons I don’t listen to Whiskey and Wine during football season. Dropping the f-bomb is very sophomoric to me. I don’t cuss either by the way.
