The Germans were on the wrong side in WW1, and then repeated the mistake in WW2. They aren't very bright.

Started on another LSU board. Repeat threads were mocked with other old news items. Like "NASA lands on moon" or "Wheel invented and promises revolution in transportation".

Inevitably that led to "Japan bombs Pearl Harbor" which led to Germans bomb Pearl Harbor and finally Germans.

The real question is how many downvotes your post gets….

Pull up a chair and let me tell you a story about message boards long long ago….

In the olden days……when people would post old news they got hit with posts like “Pearl Harbor Attacked!”….”Man lands on moon!”…etc

The Pearl Habor bit evolved into “Germans attack Pearl Harbor!” because of Animal House

Which then just became “Germans”

This evolution took decades and is now universal. First time I remember seeing this was back in the early 2000’s on a UGA board (not the rant). Not saying it started there….but that’s the earliest I saw it.

The German phrase "Achtung Baby" was the war cry used when Pearl Harbor was bombed.

Joseph Goebbels was the Propaganda Minister in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. He was well known to delay news stories and broadcasts to coincide with important Nazi events and meetings. In particular, he intentionally delayed news broadcasts to imply that Hitler was personally responsible for political and military victories.

Even as the Nazi machine was succumbing to inevitable defeat from the Russian onslaught on the Eastern front, Goebbels would intentionally delay news stories and broadcasts of Russian victories. Thousands and thousands of German civilians were caught in fire fights and battles on the Eastern front because the Nazi news sources delayed news of advancing Russian armies.

It was common parlance for the Allied forces during and after the war to describe late news items as "German news." Ultimately, delayed news was shortened to being called "Germans."
