why are people on this site so preoccupied with poor people?

I guarantee these "poor" people give less than a frick about people on a message board.

most live in LA

poor people have basically destroyed the state and its future

why wouldn't people surrounded by these pathologies discuss them?

No politicians who cater/use them destroyed it.

Just another "us vs them" tribal conflict. Everyone likes to feel superior.

It’s kinda a chicken or egg thing. Do poor people vote because politicians cater to them or vice versa..

I think your thinking of the welfare-ridden redneck. I don't think most ghettos in the urban setting are very patriotic, if any. Most lower to upper middle class red blooded Americans who work all week and are not on hand-outs are optimistic about the direction this country is going since Trump. However, the optimism was there during bush and Obama too, but that economy never panned out.

politicians cater to whoever will get them elected

if politicians continually cater to poor people and they continue to get elected, I think it is pretty clear which is the driver of the issue

True, but they aren't elected by poor people. The voting habit of poor people is very bad.

Todays poor don't bear much resemblance to the poor of years gone by though.

Because here, poor people don't have to remain poor. That's literally why people immigrate here. This country has not failed them (yet); MSM and higher education has. They give a false narrative.

Americans are patriotic because we have the best country--it really is that simple.

This is probably the most bullsh*t thing I will read today. Most of the poor people I've met blame everything and everyone except themselves for their predicament.
