I just got one. Just a FWiW to all La. Residents. Went in the middle of the week. 10 am. Small outlier DMV.

It’s absolutely awful. The entire La. Computer system regularly and randomly crashes. Across the state. One of the workers stands up, announces it’s shut down, and they have no idea when it will come back up. And if you leave and go to another DMV, doesn’t matter, they’re all down, tied to the same system.

So you literally just sit and wait. For hours. Many people get up and leave, which helps with the wait. It took me almost 3 hours to get mine. Lots of angry arse people yelling at the workers, lol.

Why are people in Louisiana going to the DMV?

Just go to a Notary office (no line, no hassle). Got my Real ID last week. I’ve been going to a notary offices for the last 20 years to get my DL renewed.

In the office where you belong.

But your shitty argument was blown apart by John Stossel in the 80s. He asked why people that weren't concerned with privacy closed their bathroom doors when they took a shite while alone at home. You should be more libertarian, but maybe the Austin weirdos have pushed you way too far towards authoritarian.

Depending on where you live, you may already have one and not even know it. Renew your DL? Bam! You have one.

Cause the bathroom had a vent that kept the rosey smell from drafting into the rest of my house?

Last time I tried pooping with an open door when I was 'alone', the dogs came and stared at me

You can avoid the DMV by hitting one of those "Fast Pass" places. I recently renewed my Drivers License in about 10 minutes tops with an extra $15 charge over the normal fee. Well worth it in my opinion.

There was an office no more than 1 mile from my house.

I don't fly and don't plan to, so I'm in no need for the "Real ID".

The issue is Louisiana dmv is outdated and can’t process them currently. They say to plan on 2 years and people will have major hurdles to go through without the real ID.
FYI I got mine over a year ago

I don’t think a plain notary can issue a DL dude.

I gave them no new data, and worrying about the safety of your data, at this point, is a bit too late.

I think your tin-foil hat is screwed on a bit too tight.
