I mean if he is that worried about throwing shite in the bed of the truck it's an option I guess.

They were once an essential tool for men who worked for a living and are now a luxury due to bad government policy and corporate greed.

Also the debacle that was ‘cash for clunkers’

Some number of those vehicles would be still on the road and an affordable option for high school kids and work / farm vehicles.

Because there are probably a bunch of DIY baws that just want to make a visit to Home Depot on weekends not driving an Accord.

I wonder if they made a low tech truck if it would outsell the more expensive models.

I'm talking, no back seats, manual windows, basic A/C and radio, no cameras no sensors, manual transmission etc.

I think there is a market for low tech cars. They don't give you a choice today.

a basic work truck with 4x4 is going to cost 45k.

It's because the prices are absurd for the cheap build quality that exists now.

Because I bought my 2013 f250 gas 4wd truck for 26k out the door.

That’s crazy considering the base price 0 option regular cab 2wd f250 stickered for over 30k in 2013.

IDK. But I rented a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road this week and I really liked it. Looked up the price and realized that I couldn't forgive the lack of power seats and the cheap feeling interior for what they are charging.

So I wouldn't buy one at least not unless it came with a discount. And an extended warranty since it's got a turbo engine and Toyota has no idea what they are doing with those.

I’m not arguing against you, but pointing out that American Ytrucks from the 1980’s that many people yearn for were lucky to make it to 100k miles before the engines died or they rusted to pieces.

Yeah and now we have engines crapping out on the way home from the dealer. Now we have less desirable engines in more expensive trucks mainly because of EPA bullshite.

Toyota, please, please bring back that 4L V6 engine.

Yep. It had like 28k miles on it.

They drove it to my house and signed paperwork at my kitchen table.

In 1974, my Grandfather bought a brand new Bronco, 302, double gas tanks for $2,300. It was built like a tank.

Now a new one costs $65,000 and is a POS.

Ok well you didn't say it was used lol.

You can get a 2024 F250 with lower milage for the 2013 equivalent of $28k. Really not that different.

I will agree that toyotas in general are incredibly overpriced.

All I know is when I got by son's vehicle and was walking the lot I saw Ford Raptors at over $138k. I literally thought it was the vin or stock number for the dealership. Nope, $138k for a truck. I know I am getting old but that blew me away. Never thought I would see that.

Because it pisses me off that I actually need a truck, and I can hardly find what I need because the market has been all fricked up by people buying the shite out of $110k luxury pickup trucks.
