They're a traffic hazard. They should be restricted to secondary roads.

The Cane-hauling trucks enjoy a considerable mulligan as to weight regulations from the State Police as well.

Because farm to market is literally one of the reasons the interstate system was built.

The Clay Committee concluded its report by stating that the positive economic attributes of the highway system were the potential for economic growth and the well-being of the economy through "speedy, safe, transcontinental travel" that could improve "farm-to-market movement

The sugarcane industry is vitally important to the Louisiana economy.

The interstate was built to move goods and military -- not your daily fussy commuter mom.

They are all over I-49 during harvest season.
Most are easily capable of 65+mph but every once in a while you’ll encounter one barely capable of 45mph.
You pass these up.

How are they a hazard? If they are going below the posted low speed, they should be pulled over and cited.

DOT regulations keeps them off lots of surface streets due to not being able to make turns of low hanging stuff

Not so much mulligans but they do carry higher weights which is why they have to have three axles in their trailers.

Look up the Louisiana traffic laws - Title 32
Many state something to the effect ‘except for farm vehicles doing their job’
Simply tells the cops, ‘don’t f@#k with the farmers’
