Imagine working in retail on black friday, now imagine that's your job every day. Do you think you would be bright and chipper?

The people behind the ticket counter in Lafayette are dumb as rocks. Almost made me miss my flight once saying I needed a visa when I didn’t

I liked flying until the first time I had a return flight about 5 hours after the arrival flight. Frick that.

Probably because they are dealing with shitty people all day.

"Why do i have to take my shoes off?"
"I ain't got no metal on me"
"I ain't puttin my phone in that basket"
"How come he got to keep his belt on"

People act like they've never flown before post 9/11.

What airline are you flying? SW people I deal with are awesome.

TSA isn’t the nicest but they’re government employees. I expect the worst from them anyways.

Dealing with the general public is draining on a person

If i had to deal with the general public every day for a job, i would be a gigantic arse hole also. The general public expects the world and is generally bitchy.

Not to mention, the vast majority of people go full retard once they step foot in to an airport. Full-on, 100% ruhtard.

News flash: people are terrible. I think they are a direct reflection of how they are treated. Something about stepping through an airport brings out the worst in people.

The Delta agents in Birmingham are incredibly nice and professional. They do a really good job.

To be fair, they deal with the traveling public all day every day.

this, it's a testament to their sanity and will power that there isn't more airline employee on passenger violence

I've never really had an experience with a rude ticket agent. A few TSA agents have been a bit surly, but I guve them a pass because of how many assholes they have to deal with on a daily basis.

I don’t love the TSA or think they’re the brightest, but I’ve still never had a negative experience with them. The people we deal with don’t make the aggravating rules.

And I’ve never had anything but extremely positive experiences with airline employees be it the ones at the counter or the flight crew.

My only complaints when traveling have been about the thoughtless or rude other travelers.

As another poster said, it depends on the airport.

The ones in ATL generally aren't bad, if anything stoic.

The ones in places like LaGuardia or Dulles can be asswipes.

With airline employees, my only complaint are the ones that don’t know their own rules/policies and tell me I can’t do something that I know is possible/allowed.

However, I’ve been at a gate or ticket counter long enough to hear the questions the general traveling public asks them. And, even worse, how rudely they ask them.

TSA isn’t airline it’s government. That’s self-explanatory.

Counter staff are the bottom rung, lowest paid, and face angry people all day think they are the reason their flight to Vegas is delayed 20 minutes.

I try to always make everyone’s job easier by having my shite together before getting to the airport.

that's another of the many problems with the traveling public, they think they know everything about the rules and regs of flying and they see just enough to believe they are an expert, rules, and rights for that matter, are different when you step on a US airliner, they are dynamic and can vary from, "you really shouldn't do that," to "you are in deep shite now, Francis"
