So move to the suburbs for good schools? That's pretty much true across the country man
The thing about people bragging over the Houston suburbs is that you can have that quality of life in almost any state, many, many of which don't have weather that is basically like living in the devil's asscrack for 9 months outta the year

I’d move back to Houston, it’s not really a bad place. I would never live outside the loop though...heights, west U, river oaks, etc only
My next and possibly last move will be to a place with 4 seasons and some interesting terrain.

That’s the thing though, the people tooting Houston’s horn don’t actually live in Houston. That’s what’s so funny.

Agreed. Woodlands isn’t Houston. The Heights is better than any place I’ve ever lived. Inside the loop is different living.
For the record, I’ve only lived in Houston for 6 years. 30+ in south Louisiana. NOLA, BR, Houma

Yeah I was in loop then in Katy and that broke me. If I have to drive more than 15 minutes to get to work I’m done

It blows my mind how people can bitch about every little thing in the world and then are fine driving from Katy or the Woodlands to downtown.

The last time we did this thread, we learned that one poster hated Houston because he spent a weekend with his cousin in Pasadena.

The 70 miles round trip isn’t the problem.
It’s the 3-4 hours a day sitting in traffic.

We moved < 5 miles away from both of our jobs and my kid's school. My time is worth money and a 15 minute commute is about what I'd prefer. If we had 3 kids it wouldn't really be an option so I certainly understand it from that standpoint
Posted on 11/3/19 at 7:39 pm to tgrbaitn08
my commute is three miles and sometimes i get annoyed because it takes about 20 minutes. i couldn't do a couple hours a day.

Houston traffic does suck but altering work schedule time makes an hr commute 30 minutes instead. It's all interstate but if problem so many ways around to get where you want to go. Around Baton Rouge you are stuck if there is a traffic jam but it sounds like that's a rare occurrence nowadays.

now that you mention it, it is peculiar how everyone I know that lives in the Woodlands throws it out there like it's the Hamptons or something
I prefer the Sugarland area over The Woodlands

An hour commute each way means your kids are in daycare 11 hours a day assuming 8 hour work day with a lunch

Memorial/Tanglewood is OUTSIDE the Loop, but inside the Beltway

Honestly, it's one of the cleanest top 10 populated USA cities and one of the easiest to navigate IMO.
