No... but keep your substances within the boundaries of your own property. Why is that a problem? Soap bubbles aren't harmless, they leave a sticky arse residue that someone else (who is NOT partaking in the profits of the bubble-meister) has to clean up regularly. Not fair.

So why change the scenario completely then?

I'll let you think about it for a minute

Also, this one sounds like it is pretty much a staple of this bar, at least for a few years at this point?. How did they not know it was there when purchasing? Did they never visit the property in person?

Google says the bar opens at 11am. Maybe his in-person visits to the property happened in the morning before the bar was open and the bubble machine hadn't been turned on yet that day.

I would argue that the selfish one here is the dude who moved into a neighborhood and then demanded changes from the legacy residents to suit his preferences.

You’re right—the new guy demanding his property stop being polluted by a legacy resident is the selfish a-hole.

I’ll be sure to let my neighbor know he needs to cut down the 100 year old live oak that covers my cars and yard with pollen and debris.

They’re both selfish, but only one of them is demanding a change to the status quo.

First of all, these properties often go for millions and are sold before they are even officially on the market. Many particular ones are very sought after, and might have been bought sight unseen.

Second, if he has a smart realtor, they did exactly this

I'm guessing that he toured the property in the day time before the bar was open or before they turn on the bubbles and wasn't aware of the nuisance before he bought the place.

Maybe he knew about it and had legal guidance that said they can get it shut down.

C'mon man, it's the French Quarter. What do you expect living in that place? Peace and quiet? A quiet, suburban neighborhood?

He’s not complaining about the noise.

That's a little different.. for many reasons, but a good one to point out is that trees don't drop pollen and leaves year round... these bubbles seem to be a constant thing.

There is also the obvious difference of a dusting of pollen vs sticky soap.

You sound like the black people who want compensation from the refineries they chose to live next to.

tbh the bar owner is likely legally in the wrong and the neighborhood bubble party is pretty obnoxious

still i wouldn't have bought next to that property knowing the bubbles were a thing

The selfish one is the guy who's spraying stuff into the air that he knows is leaving the confines of his property and landing on his neighbors property causing damage and inconvenience to the neighbors.

I'd have no sympathy if the homeowner was complaining about noise or drunk pedestrians after he bought a house next to a French Quarter bar. But its reasonable to expect that your neighboring property owner isn't discharging substances that will land on your property and possibly cause damage and inconvenience.

Again. It doesn’t matter how long they’ve been doing it. If there’s a legal way to stop it, he’s well in his right to do it. He’s not complaining about the normal things associated with a bar.

It isn’t reasonable to expect that if the neighboring property owner is doing that every day prior to your ownership. The new buyer should have known and looked to buy somewhere else if that was a problem for them.

Doubt it. I initially assumed it was some gay transplant from the NE.
