The five-story, $55 million complex dubbed “The Metro at Clearview” will have 270 units that average 925 square feet in space and cost between $1,500 and $3,000 per month, a news release said.

Audubon expects to begin construction May 1 and complete the development in two years, the release said. The community also will feature two courtyards, a resort-style pool and cabanas, a yoga lawn, lounge area, grilling stations, sitting area and a Zen garden. Other amenities include a 2,000-square-foot clubroom with multiple seating and entertainment areas, a catering kitchen, a fully furnished fitness center and a sky lounge on the fifth floor that will overlook Clearview City Center.

I just don't see how people who can afford $2,000 a month in apartment rent, would want to live in Metairie. No offense to Metairie, but it's not exactly a place for young, single professionals.

If Karmelkorn & Orange Julius are open 24/7 I'd be open to it.

This will be the most people in the footprint of the old Sears since the 1970s.

That's Old Metairie brah, which is an entirely different animal.

This is Clearview and Veterans.

Metairie (especially this location being so close to I10) is where you can have easy access to the fun stuff and the business areas of OP but not have to deal with as much of the bad stuff.

I give it to JP council. They are actively trying to grab as much business from OP as they can. OP is hell bent on destroying their hospitality businesses so JP is trying to swoop in a grab that business.

Part of me thinks there is an outside shot that Endymion rolls down Vets this year at some point.

Funny, it's where I lived when I was a young, single professional...until I saved enough money to buy a house in Mandeville, that is.

And how did I wind up in Metairie? A guy kicked in the door to the shotgun I was renting uptown and ran in holding a gun.

Good times.

Talking bad about Sears on TD can catch you a ban. Chicken used to stir paint there.

Look at Old Metairie, which is getting younger and booming

All of Metry is booming. Hell, even Airline Park - which is slowly but surely sinking into the swamp - is seeing its property values skyrocket.

I got a text message from someone I don't know asking if I'd be interested in selling my Metairie house to them. I have no idea who they are, how they got my number, or how they knew my address.

This is how New Orleans east went from a desirable suburb to what it is today: Out of state developers betting on high rents for high density housing and losing the bet.

As an old person, I wouldn't mind living somewhere like that. You'd have a modern place that would be easy to keep clean and quick access to shopping and restaurants. Only need to drive to doctor appointments.

Funny - I grew up in mid city in the 80s/90s and the only time our car was ever broken into is when we went shopping at Clearview Mall

I guess the hood rat wannabes from metry thought the car from the hood had something good in it
