I love the lent loophole of just stuffing your gullet with endless fried fish as if that’s in gods wishes.
I’m not apart of this community so no judgment I just find it hilarious that people are supposed to be facing a penance and find a very easy modern way around it

I keep my appearance and my fasting is not for praise from others, but for deeper focus on prayer during Lent.

Just to set the record straight, not eating the flesh of any warm-blooded animal (meat) is not fasting.
It's abstinence, as in "abstaining from".
Catholics are only called on to fast on the two days which bookend Lent-- Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

The small Catholic church here in our area has mastered fried catfish . Some of the best I've ever had. I wish they would do it more often instead of just during Lenten season and a fund raiser now and then.

We're technically not called to fast on Fridays, only abstain from meat. I do it anyway because I'm aware we'll be indulging in a fish dinner tonight. But a priest or anyone who's being honest about the purpose will tell you that going to be a glutton at a seafood buffet is kind of missing the point, even if you're abstaining from meat.

Forgive my ignorance. But what kind of fish are y'all eating? No catfish, right? Snapper, Drum, Buffalo, Perch?

Sorry people, but eating fried fish, boiled crawfish, shrimp pasta, tuna steaks, etc. is not a sacrifice or penance.

Did St.Christopher tonight too! One fish plate, one shrimp plate. I still have 10 shrimp left. It’s my favorite except when I want grilled which St. Angela Merici ometimes has.
