It amazes me that you idiots think that the carrier is to blame
Disney is asking for a shite ton of money.
If AT&T agrees, your bill goes up. You bitch
If AT&T disagrees, you lose ESPN. You bitch.
Disney forces the carriers hands by making sure they pay for all Disney channels. ABC, Disney, Disney Jr, Freeform, ESPN, etc.

In this instance, they are to blame. Not about the negotiations and shut off, but how it took place.
In every prior instance I've seen, there are scrolls on the channels or commercials stating what I put earlier "Disney is enacting a price increase and we are committed to keep costs low. If an agreement is not reached by 9/1, this channel along with many others will not be available"
There was NOTHING of that sort on ABC, ESPN, etc... The plug was pulled at 6pm, 30 min prior to the game and Round of 16 key match of the US Open.
Directv fricked their customers without any notice and are paying for it today.
ETA: And Disney gave Direct an out to extend the negotiations and keep services up, but Direct declined.

100%. Ive worked in pay tv for 22 years and thats the worst part is the TV provider takes all the heat.
This happened with Spectrum last year and it lasted forever. Disney was asking for a 140% increase in carrier fees.
What people don't understand is Disney wants DIRECTV to pay a 150% increase AND take Disney Plus and Hulu as part of the deal. They want DIRECTV to offer it to their customers and if they don't hit minimums (X percent of customers keep Disney Plus and/or Hulu), then DIRECTV must pay Disney a penalty.
Disney is the bad guy in this situation but of course the pay TV provider is going to get massive cancellations because they are trying to stand up to the massive bully.

And rightfully so for giving their customers 0 advanced notice on the first weekend of college football, the US Open, and NFL kickoff week.
They screwed the pooch.

Is it 1995? Who still has satellite?
It closed at $0.24 per share on 12/29/95.
It’s presently at $229.00 per share but has split three times after 1995.
So each $0.24 share would be worth over $1,300.00 each.
(An over 5,000 to 1 return in less than 30 years)

It would be an easier decision if they weren't the best w/ picture quality. If that starts slipping I'll cancel.
YTTV is easy to navigate, love the multi-game view, but the picture was always arse unless you paid up for 4k. Something about bitrate dillution that's beyond my paygrade. Has that gotten any better this season with YTTV?

Called to cancel today, DTV dropped my bill by $90 /month
I caved and stuck with em
Oh, ETA they told me that an agreement has been reached and hopefully things should resolved in the next 48 hours. Maybe she was making that up but thats at least the boiler plate line she was given to say

Is there labor day in Calcutta or New Delhi?

Which is why I laugh at all the people who say, "That's why I have _______." No streaming service/provider is immune to this shite. It will happen to all of them. The only good thing is that now you have more options and fewer binding contracts, so you can change services whenever you want.

They know conservatives love college football so they do this on purpose at the worst times to piss us off and ruin us mentally. Thankfully I now have YouTubetv.
Meh.....that's bullshite. If that were the case they would have cut the feed at midnight Saturday morning going into the opening weekend of the season for maximum effect, not wait until the day that one game is scheduled.

Which is a great reason to switch to FuboTV instead of YouTube. They are fighting the good fight against Disney, the real villain. I switched to them from DirecTV Stream last night.

It’s always the network trying to increase the carry fees the cable or satellite company pays them for what is broadcast wirelessly at no additional charge over public airwaves. The cable/satellite company looks bad while it’s also about the only time besides hurricanes or similar events you hear the local channel push the availability of using an antenna.
Local broadcast networks fought the ways companies tried to integrate public wireless broadcasts into streaming or streaming boxes (or make it difficult to record or integrate with guide) because a big part of their revenue now is from carry fees they collect cable, satellite, and streaming services (the ones that are basically cable or satellite). I think they went to Supreme Court against one company several years ago.
Cable channels do this as well. They can’t leverage public wireless access, but they group everything they own together in negotiations to get better deals.
It was surprising how this actually seemed to surprise a lot of fans yesterday as usually both sides try to push out notices blaming the other side with the date listed when it will be discontinued.

In my case, I don't care whose fault it is. Directv doesn't have ESPN and I need ESPN during football season. I'm going with a provider who has it.

I did direct tv and dish back and forth for about 7 or 8 years. YouTubetv is definitely the way to go

They’ve pretty much just given up on keeping customers at this point. Same for Dish

They lost me about a year ago when they lost the NFL package and went into contract disputes with NBC and Fox.

Agreed, i like the antenna.. but what about LSU games that are only broadcast on espn and not on ABC or locally ? Especially for the posters here that live out of market ?
Why is it that whenever someone provides a decent option to something, there’s always some dipshit who just has to find any reason whatsoever to shite on it?
Buy the antenna and then you won’t have to worry about the next time LSU plays on tv. If you live out of that market…..then guess what….the post doesn’t apply to you and you can keep scrolling.
