It's like the whole world is experimenting simultaneously with the best way to deal with a pandemic. Academic types will have some amazing data for years to come and will have a field day crunching the numbers.

Having said that, who gains herd immunity first you think - Sweden or the US? Apparently in Sweden it's frowned upon to even wear masks in public and people sneer at you and make fun of you if you go around wearing one. There have even been a few isolated incidents of local Swedes attacking Asian looking people wearing masks.

How is that even measured? Do we consider the US to have developed herd immunity for the flu?

Despite what everyone believes, Sweden's goal was not to have herd immunity.

Their goal was overall deaths. Covid and as a result of covid reaction.

It’s irrelevant

Nature has a tool against covid19, it’s called natural selection and adaptation

Viruses do not want their hosts to die.

Viruses EVOLVE to be more contagious but less deadly

The deadliest strains of covid literally die out, just like an animal poorly suited for an environment dies out

Sweden is basically there.

The US is just much larger.
It'll take a little while.

But, most of US will be close very soon.

NE and most of Midwest getting there.
The South, Florida, Texas all getting hit hard

I saw a study that suggests only 10% of Swedes have antibodies, so we can't be far behind.

I hope you are right, but I've seen no data of antibodies that suggests either of the above is true.

Sweden's population has a much higher % of people ccr5-delta mutation, so I am going with them.

Blacks and Asian-Americans genes don't have the mutation.
