Well, really there wasn't anyone that fits anything close to Hitler. Probably the closest thing to him in the public mind would be Napoleon.

But that's probably only if you ask people in The parts of Europe he marched his armies through. If you'd have asked someone here in the South at they time they'd probably say Abraham Lincoln.
