I recall going to see DEERHUNTER with my dad, and there was a much needed intermission

Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail had one hell of an intermission:

Did apocalypse now have one? I know they had to split it into 2 VHS tapes
It didn't when they released the extended one in the early 00's. I've never been more exhausted after watching a movie. Something like 3.5 hours.

When I worked at theatre in the 90’s I learned how to switch out reels with Forrest Gump.
It takes 3 to 5 minutes to rewind the 1st half of the movie. Sometimes longer because the film would break. Then it would take 2 to 3 minutes to get the 2nd reel ready.
I always thought intermission was so people could go to the bathroom or get snacks, but we only used it to switch reels.
Sometimes when the film broke in the middle of the movie we would tell people we were going to have a 5 minute intermission.
Titanic, Hamlet and the Green Mile had intermission’s

I got extra credit in my 7th grade social studies class for watching Gettysburg, there was an intermission in it. I think I may have been the only one under 70 in the theater
I was in high school at the time and our history teacher gave us extra credit if we saw it and produced the ticket. When intermission happened, my buddy and I spotted the teacher in the crowd. He couldn’t deny us our extra credit then for sure.

I remember an astronaut movie my dad took us to... The right stuff. It had an intermission. I think maybe Jaws III had one as well.

I remember back in about 1996 there was a film out called The English Patient. Can't remember if it had an intermission, but if it didn't, it sure should have. I remember falling asleep before halftime of the film, and reportedly added a soundtrack of snoring before being jogged awake

What makes this all funny. My Mom was the Manager for both movie theaters in Clovis, NM from 1961-1964
....
While Dad was on TDY ........Both my brother and I spent the whole day in the theater. We only wanted to be there on Saturday.
Saturday Kid's Matinee 11 AM
Then main features (Usually two)
By the time we were sick of being at the movies we went home .....at 10 PM
