The best thing about Denver is it's only about 30 minutes from Colorado..

I've lived in SE Aurora / Parker area for about 3 years now and I can tell you its really is a great place. Moving from Baton Rouge to Colorado is a great move. Only thing that really sucks is how expensive the housing market is most around here go for $450k and up. Rent is very expensive as well but IMO it beats the hell out of living in BR. The fact that I'm the trashiest person in walmart (with my camo shirt and flip flops) is always a sell point I like to make about people on the fence about moving here.

my wife is from Fort Collins - love it there and visit family there as often as we can. Estes Park is a beautiful place as well.

At this point, I’d rather other mountain west states. Idaho, Utah, etc. Colorado is crowded as frick

Been here 3 years and while I do miss La. this is a fantastic place to live. I'm in Telluride and love it. Denver is ok as big cities go. Just stay out of bad areas like you would in any big city. Boulder is nice as is Ft. Collins. Take your time, visit. get to know the area

140-160k household income pretty livable out there?

I think that is enough to live up here. The availability and the cost of housing pushed me away from there. Dropping $550k in Denver for a comparable house on the Northshore costing $275K is what irked me.

Food, Drinks, Grocery isn't terrible up here, it is actually cheaper than living in Mandeville. The biggest hindrance, as stated above is the housing costs.

What does one do for work in Telluride? Must be expensive as hell to live there, no?

I grew up in Parker (1998 - 2004). At one time Douglas County was the fastest growing county in the nation. A lot of people who worked in Denver lived further out in places like Parker, Littleton, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Englewood, Centennial etc. and commute in via bus (Park N Ride was pretty nice) or bomb down E470.

cwarr14 is right about the housing situation being ridiculous. The growth and desirability of CO has just made housing prices go gangbusters. I'd love to live there again because it's the best place I've ever lived, but there's no way I could afford it.

Colorado used to be a very live and let live kind of "moderate" place, but I understand a lot of the trustafarian/leftist/progressive types have brought their culture with them for better or worse. It seemed like a lot of people from Southern California were migrating to Denver en masse after ruining CA haha. Large immigrant and homeless population (been like that for probably 20 years).

We have lived in Colorado for 3 years. Coming from a more expensive COL area. It's been great. Colorado consists of more than just Denver. Colorado Springs, Ft. Collins, Boulder, Morrison, etc.

In terms of cities, ranked from most expensive to least I would say:

Boulder, Denver, Ft. Collins, Morrison, CO Springs.

We make about $220k/yr and probably spend way too much money on crap. We'd do just fine taking a paycut. No kids though which would change things obviously.

I don't live in Denver, but live just South in Douglas County. More conservative than both Denver and Boudler that is for sure. No homelessness here either!

I worked quite a bit in the Grand Junction area in 2008 and 2009. The western part of the state is more desert than mountain, but it was still a beautiful place. There was a little town nearby called Palisade that had a bunch of wineries and a small ski resort (powderhorn i think?) that was only a 45 minute drive away, so I skied every weekend in the winter.

If family/career weren't keeping me in Louisiana, then Colorado would be very high on my list of places to relocate.

You'll be able to afford the $1,800/month studio apartment you'll be living in.

Quit giving people my idea. Going to be hard enough to beat the Californians there.
