I like Colorado to visit. Beautiful in the summer. But couldn't do it year round.

Had fun in Denver, but traffic was pretty terrible.

He said Colorado, not Denver specifically unless I missed that. Plenty of other places he can live that aren't as expensive.

Good point.

OP, Rangely is the place you should move to.

We live in Arvada (west of Downtown Denver about 10 min), and we absolutely love it. Boulder is only a 30 minute drive, my ski spot is an hour away to the west, and it's not the shithole you're currently trying to escape.

Plus weed is legal here, so there's that.

Check real estate pricing. A 1400 SF dump in Boulder can set you back 350K.

Lots of homeless and poor people have moved into Denver recently thanks to the weed.

I lived right outside of Winter Park, CO for 3 months.

Beautiful area, would have stayed longer if work had allowed.

Fort Collins

A friend of mine moved out there for work about 10 years ago. Says he’s never leaving.

Music City Hot Chicken FTW. Try to make it there for lunch once a month.

I worked quite a bit in the Grand Junction area in 2008 and 2009. The western part of the state is more desert than mountain, but it was still a beautiful place. There was a little town nearby called Palisade that had a bunch of wineries and a small ski resort (powderhorn i think?) that was only a 45 minute drive away, so I skied every weekend in the winter.
In the shoulder seasons when us SLC people go mountain biking in the desert, I stay on I-70 and go to Fruita, CO instead of Moab. Same world class terrain and about 10x less people. Fruita is 20 minutes before you hit Grand Junction.

Edit: Kokopelli ripper along the Colorado

If you like beer and music it's a great place. Lots of places to just hang out. Plus close to Estes Park.

I lived in Denver for 3 years, so I'm kind of biased. But if you have nothing holding you back I would say move ASAP. I would if I didn't have family and an elderly mother. Everybody has touched on the real estate prices.

The thing that I loved was the weather and the choice of things to do. There's more sunny days there that anywhere else in the country. What they call "hot" there, is in the 90's and no humidity. It can get damn cold, but it's not like Minnesota cold. You get used to that after a winter of it.

You can wake up on a Saturday morning and pick just about anything you'd like to do. There's everything that Louisiana has to offer (minus saltwater fishing), plus a whole lot more with the mountains.

And people who are from there and/or live there, are proud of their state.

Have lived here for 30+ years
Like it, although it is getting crowded in the Denver metro area. I live west of Denver in Golden, a bit cut off from the bullshite but getting crowded nonetheless.

What do you want to do? Do you work? Just play? Smoke weed?

I moved to golden 2 months ago and love it. Getting a little crowded with the semester starting, but it’s still far enough from Denver where it isn’t too crowded.

Want to know how I know you've never been west of Denver?
