Who is the worst gift giver in your family?

Everyone has that person who you have to force that fake smile for every time you open one of their head scratching gifts...for me it's the MIL. She tries and I appreciate the effort...but just...no.
-one year she noticed how into cooking I was and got me a copper non-stick pan from the infomercials
-one year noticed how much I loved playing darts, and especially my pro-grade, wood encased board...got me a plastic talking board from wal-mart
-one year got me a giant tub of cheese balls...I have literally no explanation for that one

Sounds like she is trying to send you a message.

I'm happy with any gift someone gives me but I have a BIL named Scott who is an ungrateful little shite. Wait until he sees what I got him this year.

I just stick with money and/or gift cards. Those work well as one size fits all approach and no one complains about it.

My mom this year put the presents that she bought for me into a Black Santa Claus bag.
I laughed because well ... why not? The funny thing is though she had no idea that she purchased a Black Santa Claus bag.
All in all, just thankful to have my parents around. The presents are material items that you can’t take with you when you go. The moments and the experiences, that to me, is what matters most. If I want something bad enough, I work for it and can buy it.

My great aunt. I understand they lived simple lives and didn’t make much money.
But everything they ever gave me was homemade. Always. We always hated it growing up.
I think it’s where my hate for Etsy has come from.

Before we moved from LA to CA, my wife's grandma would always get us these huge gifts and we would have no way of getting them home. One year she gave us a nice bookshelf. Shipping costs were a bitch on that one.
ETA: Her gifts were always nice, but just clueless on logistics.

Not gonna lie...it felt kinda Oweo-ish as I was typing....but I'm sadly at work today so I'm just looking to kill sometime.

My mom without a doubt.
In 20 years, i haven’t received a gift from her that either doesn’t end up collecting dust or i end up donating.

Maybe this year it'll come attached to TulaneLSU's magic guide through Golden Corral cuisine.
