It's not Just in vehicles. In the home as well. Or outside within a 20 foot radius. We set up a hot line for kids or neighbors to leave an anonymous tip to Avoid fear of retaliation.

Statistics say 10-15% of this board probably does this.

I would be surprised if 15% of this board smokes at all. Smoking is trashy AF.

There already is a state law against it with children in the car, ages 13 and under. This applies even if the windows are down. It's been a statute since 2006 I believe

Edit: apparently it was revised in 2011. They took out the age requirement but defined how old the child may be (if they're in a rear facing child seat, etc.)

Far less than 10% of the people I know smoke. Probably less than 5 people total.

While I appreciate the gesture of not smoking with kids in the car.

How is any of that actually enforceable for starters and what HOA grants such powers as to charge crimes.

Asking for starting my own suburban nation.

No where close. Nice try though. Plenty of kids find their own way.

When I was growing up both my mom and dad smoked in the car with all three of us in it - we all turned out okay!

Snitches get stiches. I’m quite sure those parents will be able to identify the snitch quickly especially if they only have one child.

I know more kids who suffer cause their parents didn't help them then I do kids who have health problems cause their parent's smoked.

I know the AAP can be extreme, but its known that this is definitely still harmful to them. I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but I'm still posting it.

quote:

The American Academy Pediatrics (AAP) has conducted research on the effects of thirdhand smoke and found that it is also harmful. Thirdhand smoke is the smoke left behind—the harmful toxins that remain in places where people have smoked previously. Thirdhand smoke can be found in the walls of a bar, upholstery on the seats of a car, or even a child's hair after a caregiver smokes near the child.
