Although I'm a firm believer that if one has the means to travel abroad they should, I can't hate on this. People take for granted the vastness of this country and all that it has to offer from a geographic perspective.

Not directly, they are financed by private dollars, but the end game is deriving a (usually) financial benefit via the government.

This isn't usually straight dollars as a handout though, it's a reduction of taxes, regulations, greasing the wheels for deals/transactions, negatively impacting competitors. These government actions are then sold as pro - business/environment/freedom/etc. depending on if they have an R or D by their name(s)

The whole point of my rebuttal was that everyone in DC is taking a 6 figure government salary. Very few people people relative to the total population are collecting a 6 figure government salary in DC.

Very, very few.

I've been to 10 other countries several times.

It's truly a small world after all.

Yeah, you are right about that. When someone says “the exchange rate is good” they mean relatively good. Saying 1 dollar gives you 24 limpiras isn’t a good argument outright, but if the average exchange rate for usd to Honduran limpiras is 1 to 20, then 1 to 24 means you have more buying power than usual

Yes this makes much more sense.

I’ve had drinks at all of those. Started in Mexico and ended in Canada where we watched the fireworks. I was smashed.

I didn't say "someone". If you go back and read, I know plenty of people from different cultures. Some people just think they get to know cultures by spending a week in a resort town, which makes them think they're better than me.

Ex: "Mexico is amazing. The people are so nice. I went to Cancun last year, and it was so great. You'll never get to experience the real culture until you go down there"

I don't need to go down there to experience more culture than that idiot. I can go to freaking Kenner and get more of it. And let's be honest....99.99999% of people aren't gonna immerse themselves in any culture when they travel. They'll just check out a few of the things Frommer's tells them to

In that case, the item is just cheaper. Again, this is also the case within the US...depending on a variety of factors some things are more or less expensive depending on your location.
Man I think you are very confused

The prices on food menus in a foreign country arent going to fluctuate quickly based on exhange rates

So if you go to Canada when the exchange rate is 1 to 1, and eat out at restaurants you will spend lets say $500

If you book your trip at a time the exchange rate is .75 to 1, you will spend $375

You bought the same exact food, and saved yourself $125 on your vacation

Yeah the poliboard are off their rocker. They will tell you sweden is an uninhabitable war zone. I’ve been there 3 times in 3 years and have not seen the slightest hint of such. Yeah I’m sure there’s some shite refugee camps taking up a small amount of space somewhere, but compared to the sprawling ghettos we have here? It’s minuscule.

Well yeah Cancun isn’t exactly a cultural experience

Correct. It's the relative exchange rate that is important.

Knowing the XR on any given day in a vacuum doesn't do you much good, but if you catch a large fluctuation in your favor then you can save some coin.

I've only ever heard people talk about the raw XR, and that's why I thought it was a load of crap.

I'm pretty blessed to say I've traveled outside the US.

Morocco countless times (im from there and family from there)
France
Spain
Saudi Arabia
Ecuador
Galapagos
Canada
St. Maarten (Caribbean)

not a bad list for someone who just turned 26.

Most countries have national park systems of their own and you'd be surprised how good some of them are.
