Prior to the Zeitgeist of the late 20th century it was VERY COMMON for girls as young as 15 to marr much older men, wealthy widowers in their 40's would especially.

When I was stationed in Germany, one of the first things we were briefed on was "make sure you check IDs before you do anything stupid". There were a ton of 13-14 year old girls that were in the clubs. The doormen don't check IDs there.
