I've ate at Applebee's once in the last four or five years - it's not very good. But when I was in college at SLU it was kind of a place to go out for dinner that we knew wouldn't have acoustic cover song singers blaring up the restaurant and likely wouldn't bump into anyone the girl and I knew.

I've never been to an Applebee's, but the chicken crispers at Chili's are the fricking bomb.

If you don't agree then kill yourself.

I've eaten there once.

I don't think anyone ever goes out to eat at Applebee's. They end up at Applebee's.

This is true. When out of town for work if you want to nail a random without much effort go sit a the bar at chilis, Applebee's, outback, etc. leaving wedding ring on will make it even easier

This is why my wife won't allow it.

I've noticed that in many small towns Applebee's is the nicest restaurant, and the local bar, all in one.

And Chilis does have the best chips and salsa. FACT.

Same could be said for Chillis

Only if someone wanted to be wrong. Chili's isn't fine dining or even upscale by any means, but much different/better than Applebees

What happened to T.J.? Anyone remember when it used to be T.J. Applebee's?

I don't think I've ever eaten at one, T.J.'s or otherwise, just wondering.

In 2005, I had the pleasure of eating at Applebee's in Fahaheel, Kuwait after months of bad food in Iraq. It was like a 5* restaurant at the time and I very much appreciated it, so there's that.

As others have noted, sometimes it's among the best restaurants in some shitty town. I feel sorry for people that live in places like that.

My last visit to one was about five years ago when I got caught in a rainstorm and didn't feel like driving home yet so I stopped to get a beer and an appetizer.

Sat down at the bar and felt my arm on something sticky on the bar. Then noticed food smudged on the menu.
The beer they served tasted like it had either been run through a skunked line or it was just out of date.

The nachos were served with what seemed like cheese whiz poured on top.
There was pieces of trash all over the floor.

The high class servers all were standing around the bar bitching about the customers and complaining about life.
The customers looked like they just got off a greyhound bus or were getting ready to go visit their family in prison.

Never again.

Black folk and white trash keep the lower tier chains afloat.

Once in a blue moon. There are a lot of places in the same price range that are better.

Oklahoma has a few.

Live bands in Applebee's after 11pm.

I was kinda confused when everyone on the rig said they were headed to Applebee's. Even more strange that people were smoking inside when we go there.

Had some sloots though

Yep. That was a long time ago. Kinda like Skaggs-Albertsons.

My guess is TJ got kicked out and started a cinnamon roll chain.

I don't think anyone goes as a "eating out at a fine dining establishment". It's like a step above fast food. Next your going to tell me you have never stopped at a Wendy's because it's beneath you.
