To the original question of the thread...None of these kills makes a cool conversation piece. What is cool about a guy paying a ton of money for a prearranged easy hunt?

Well, when you put it that way: where is your trophy of the lion you killed all on your own with no guide?

Surely, since this isn't cool enough for you, you have a much cooler story.

I mean lions and especially rhinos are hugely endangered. Your scum if you kill a rhino.

I also don’t really have any reason to kill a hippo.

So, no, I don’t think any are particsrly cool

I don't know about the chickens, but that's a beautiful piece of furniture they are resting on.

i'm far from an animal rights activist. But, killing an animal for sport just seems wrong. I guess it just matters how "cute" the animal is?

Hunting is a form of invasive and overabundant animal control. It is mutually beneficial even if some of the hunting is purely for sport.

On a state level, control by the LDWF has helped the Louisiana black bear population to flourish so much that the state allowed a 16-day season with limited tags to keep them from becoming invasive. Without allowing a season they become a problem but without regulation, they may get hunted to near extinction again. It's one small example of the benefits and balance of gaming control and hunting.

There are many more examples that you can research and educate yourself on.

We technically do this through municipal animal control

LDWF issuing hunting licenses and tags is just animal control

All the same

I wouldn't want to kill a Rhino but if I had the money I'd want a rhino mount and a polar bear rug.

I would kill a Hippo they are dicks.

You are required to do neither, and both are beneficial.

It's no longer beneficial to hunt African big game for a few reasons. Poachers are using the excuse of big game hunting to kill endangered species. Hunters are killing species younger than 6 yrs old which is illegal and now there are less and less big game hunts to provide even half of the money it would take to keep up with conservation. Tourism is much more profitable for these countries than big game hunting.

I don’t think you understand how modern conservation and preservation of endangered species work.

These big game hunters are an important part of that.
