Anything easy of Houston is no different than southwest Louisiana. But drive an hour west of houston and you’ll start seeing cactus. That’s not the south.

Here in Texas we still celebrate the cavaliers. Southern as it gets.
People from Mississippi and Louisiana don't even know how cavaliers relate to Southern history.

Not sure how Kentucky managed to get mid south while Virginia and Missouri are partially.. But yeah, I mostly agree.

And no mention of Oklahoma?

SEC PLUS VIRGINIA?
Virginia definitely is southern.
Virginia definitely is southern.

The Appalachian culture is not the same though.

It's not true, all the Puritans were swamped by Irish and Italians

Because >50% of KY is Mid-South, IMO.

If you live in Alaska, all of them.

I would argue there's Appalachian Culture that's southern (E. Tennessee and Western NC) and parts of it that aren't (W. Virginia is not).

Virginia is definitely the south if you pretend the washington metro area doesnt exist

Fredericksburg and areas south of there is definitely the South.

Saying that the state of TN isn't southern because of Appalachia culture is ignorant and blatantly wrong.

How else would you categorize it? Do y'all want to be special snowflakes like Texans or something?

As someone who didn’t grow up in Louisiana, south LA has very little in common with the Deep South. North LA is definitely the Deep South.

S. Louisiana is a somewhat distinctive/unique part of the deep south, but it's still the deep south.
Too many people don't understand that 'redneck' doesn't fill the whole venn diagram for 'southern.'

if you can walk into a restaurant order sweet tea and the waiter know what your talking about you're still in the south.
They may not have it everywhere but almost everyone knows what sweet tea is.
