They want to be part of the South so bad. I worked with a guy in St Louis who had zero accent, think Ohio, and would argue with me over this all the time. He even had a ANV Battle Flag tattoo on his shoulder.

I don’t really consider Florida the south. Sure parts are southern to varying degrees but it’s always had a very different history from the rest of the south and that’s reflected in the attitudes of those of us from here. The whole “Florida cracker” thing maybe. Plus, growing up in a place surrounded by ocean and all that goes with that, I find it hard to relate to someone from Memphis or Knoxville on a cultural level.

My point is that the panhandle of Florida is basically southern Georgia/Bama. Very much deep south culturally.
