When you think of the "Southern states", which states fall in that category?

You could say "SEC states minus ____" or "SEC states plus ____" to make it easier.

SEC states minus Florida, Texas, and Missouri, but including North Carolina.

Virginia is neither southern nor northern. It's an odd "buffer" state.

North Florida is more southern than any part of Kentucky.

The Panhandle should be part of Alabama and Georgia.

If you include East Texas you have to include SE Oklahoma.

Texas, no I consider it more Western. Kentucky and Tennessee no I consider that more mountain like, Appalachia if you will. Virginia and Maryland negative as well. Florida, while geographically south doesn't fit the culture of a "southern" state. Missouri and Arkansas no as well.

The Panhandle and Central Florida from Ocala to Gainesville is more than enough to warrant Florida being in the South despite being attached to South Florida

To be fair, all of Kentucky is more southern than South Florida. So, I'm not sure how it balances out.

Speak for yourself, bama.

But, assuming that's what you're doing, yeah.
