Has got to be the most 'southern' place in the entire United States. shite is straight out of some prototypical Yankee portrayal of the South in cinema.
This. Draw a circle around the point where Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana meet and everything inside is about as southern as I’ve come across.

I don’t really consider Florida the south. Sure parts are southern to varying degrees but it’s always had a very different history from the rest of the south and that’s reflected in the attitudes of those of us from here. The whole “Florida cracker” thing maybe. Plus, growing up in a place surrounded by ocean and all that goes with that, I find it hard to relate to someone from Memphis or Knoxville on a cultural level.

Did you grow up in Jax? are you a transplant not from the south? I promise you if your in jax and you know where yulee , calahan and surrounding areas are then you are in the south. Take a drive about 50 miles up to Georgia. You are in the south my friend. trust me . you are in denial if you dont think so.

Entering Tampa and orlando and south of there you have left the south

I grew up down south and my family is multiple generation FL native. Ive been in Jax for 11 years. I don’t think Jax is “The South”. Is it Southern in many ways? Yes. Is it the gateway to the real south? Yes.

I have in laws in SE GA so I know the area well. However, that’s GA not FL and it’s a world apart in most ways from Jax when it really comes down to it.

I say this as a guy who fishes, hunts, drives a truck...I can’t really relate to the true southern culture you find in the true Deep South. It’s just vastly different than FL culture IMO.

I'd say Southern Louisiana from the Sabine River, across the Gulf Coast (including the entire state of Mississippi and Central to south Alabama) to the Florida Panhandle to the Atlantic. Georgia, S.C., N.C. Virginia. NOT Tennessee or Kentucky.

I've lived in southern Missouri for 26 years. I'm maybe 15 minutes from the Ark line and I can assure you that not even southern Missouri is a southern state.
