The Mustang GTD completed an official, certified Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in 6:52.072 in May 2025, after first breaking the seven-minute barrier with a time of 6:57.685 in August 2024. The car's lap is a record for an American-made production car, making it the fourth-fastest in the production sports car class at the Nürburgring.

What an idiot. I would much rather have a ZR1....

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD and the 2025 Corvette ZR1 are American performance supercars, but the ZR1 is a more powerful and track-focused machine, outperforming the GTD at the Nürburgring despite costing significantly less ($175,000 vs. $325,000+). The ZR1 boasts superior horsepower (1,064 hp vs. 815 hp) and a faster Nürburgring lap time, while the GTD is characterized by its exclusivity, limited production run, and street-legal track car design inspired by the Mustang GT3.

I’m from Houma and never heard of the guy that bought it. The page that took this video (Murphy’s Law Garage) tagged the owner on Instagram. Dude has a 9.25 second GT500, I’d guess this GTD will see some track time in Avondale.

Tge onboard rear suspension on that car is amazing. I bet it sticks to the track

They're quite different cars. It'll be interesting to see how the ZR1 holds up to track abuse outside of 1 off lap times. I suspect that in anything more than 5-10 laps on a real course they'll start to have cooling issues like many similar cars. The GTD is a street legal GT3 car and will have the suspension and systems in place to get flogged all day.

I am going to guess AI wrote that because no human that knows cars would have. The ZR1 isn't even the most track focused Corvette. The GTD is much more of a pure track car, full stop. As mentioned the ZR1 will likely have cooling issues in multi-lap track runs and will eat tires like a teenage boy just back from football practice. The ZR1/ZR1X has 6-9 more seconds in them at the N'Ring but look how much more horsepower it took to eclipse the GTD.* One is very close to a real racecar and one is a very fast street supercar. I would be willing to be in a typical 2 hour sports car race a GTD would destroy a ZR1 because they weren't built for the same thing.
* consider how much faster the ZR1X is than the GT3RS at the N'Ring (less than a second). Then consider the GT3RS only has 518hp compared to over 1200 in the Corvette. That shows the difference between a track car and a high-horsepower very capable road car.

First, neither of those cars are built for straight line acceleration, especially 0-30. The suspensions just are built and tuned for launching. That being said those two cars are about as close to a drivers race as you will get in the 1/4 mile, the ET and traps are both nearly identical. That race will be all reaction time. Those cars just aren't set up for straight-line racing from a dig.

Supposedly he’s not from Houma. He was going to all the Ford dealers trying to get one because they only making X number
Of them. Somehow Terrebonne Ford was able to get there hands on one.
There’s alot of other things I rather spend that kind of money on personally…….

Is that the cheapest you can build a car like that? 99% of people that see it on the road wouldn’t know it. Not saying that matters, but I’m just curious?
It’s the fastest ‘stock’ car from the factory but what about a non stock car? It seems hard to believe you couldn’t build a better car for $400k but I’m ignorant here.
