In Missouri it is legal to cook up to 100 gallons per year per adult unless there is more than one adult in the household then it is 200 gallons per year. However, like weed it is still illegal in the United States.
Cooking liquor is hard work (so I have been told) and as you see can be very dangerous. If you are going to do it then buy a still that was made by a professional.

I've bought the "moonshine" they sell at the liquor store. That don't count. I'm talking about the REAL stuff.

Using water heating elements eliminates much of the danger.

Something about that fire is suspicious. If that much real moonshine went up in flames, there wouldn't be that much left. All those plastic containers would be incinerated, not charred.

Serious question, what kind of a market is their for illegal moonshine? Who buys this stuff?
I can walk into any liquor store, or a Walmart, and buy a bottle of whiskey off the shelf for about $20. Why would I buy something illegal that could make me go blind?
That part of the country still has a lot of dry counties ran by southern baptists, but people still buy the moonshine.

It's legal in Louisiana if it's for yard equipment

bullshite. There is one reason and one reason only this is illegal and it’s right in the listed charges. Failure to pay taxes. Uncle Sam gets his or no one gets any.

I’m talking about the real shite from a still sold in a white Clorox container. Had it from south of Troy, AL; Fitzgerald, GA and from the Hwy 41 yard sale near Chattanooga.

Saw a guy drink some shine one night and his face literally changed colors and he barfed it right back up. You sip that stuff not chug it. Just a little dab will do ya.

Some guys are tired of looking at their wives and this is cheaper than divorce.

I honestly thought it was legal to make for personal consumption but I was wrong. Of course in this case, sounds like it was a wee bit more than personal consumption.

Before Hawkeye worked as a doctor on MASH during the Korean War he was doctoring mash in the Moonshine War.

Alcohol vapours form explosive mixtures with air when the concentration of alcohol vapour is greater than 4.3 per cent, but less than 19.0 per cent by volume. The flash point of 190 proof alcohol is 63 deg. F. (17.2degC); bourbon or 90 proof alcohol is 78 deg. F. (25.6degC) A liquid alcohol at above these temperatures is highly flammable.- the Blue Flame
There was The Blue Flame- by Aramco, Saudi Arabia- this is as close as I can find on short notice. It explained how to make beer, wine and alcohol while working in Saudi Arabia.

It's a shame that this is illegal, while states are legalizing MJ.
Neither is mj though by the same token
