Green, you’re safe. Red, you’re screwed.

A lot of jobs are safe from AI.

Nothing is safe from AI+robotics.

They already automate electrical line maintenance in china

Kindergarten Teachers orange? I doubt they are really at any risk.

I guess they are if you are a parent okay with just plopping your kid on a screen all day, which you’ll still be doing anyway so who cares.

I work in IT and I'm not sweating in the least bit. I'm also almost 50. My job still requires a decent amount of physical work, and I'm probably old enough to miss the robots

I do worry about my kids some. Ultimately, I think this will all be overblown like everything else. Humans prefer dealing with other humans, and the government isn't going to take care of you. This means that the economy permanently collapses if most jobs are replaced.

Anything heavily administrative is not even a question of "if", it's when.

At the least, way less people will be needed no matter how you slice it, no? The actual job will still exist, but it won’t take nearly the same amount of people to accomplish.

That will be a shite ton of people losing jobs I would imagine.

Jobs have been lost to technology for time immemorial. Economic theory, history, and plain common sense tell us that it doesn’t mean the *amount* of jobs are reduced; it simply means labor gets redirected.

It’s what the great economist Joseph Schumpeter called “creative destruction”

Sacrificing technological advancement at the sentimental altar of “jobs” is a sure fire way to kill growth and cede tbe future to Japan, Taiwan, and China.

For further reading, read Frederic Bastiat or Henry Hazlitt on the fallacy that technology reduces the amount of jobs.

Which is one reason that I shop at Rouses. No self-checkouts.

Ultimately, the economy is driven by the consumer. If you remove a decent portion of that, the whole thing comes tumbling down.

For real or are you being sarcastic? I’d hate to be a young associate just starting out having to worry about this. Paralegals and assistants/secretaries, too. I think seasoned partners are safe and will be out before being in danger.

AI doesn’t remove the consumer. It *helps* the consumer. One of the main reasons why college, healthcare, etc cost so much is because of administrative bloat.

Automating all that will lead to substantial decreases in labor/production costs, allowing firms to pass on those savings to consumers in the form of lower prices.

If you understand accounting you're safe.

AI can automate everything. There still has to be people to understand what's going on behind the scenes. That isn't going away.

I don't even mean knowing consolidations necessarily. Just basic debits and credits at a fundamental level will keep you safe. Being able to call out AI when it says a lot of bullshite that sounds good is going to create an entirely new job.

AI already pops of at the mouth too much when it's absolutely incorrect.
