Austin is without question my most hated city, anywhere. I've been there 5 or 6 times now and I hate it more and more every time. frick Austin.

I can see why Austin wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but most hated city seems a bit strong. But to each their own. Overall I enjoy Austin.

If money were no object, I'd go 1) Austin 2) Dallas/Houston 3) SA
They're all good enough places to live, but none of them are towards the top of where I'd want to be. I live in Houston now, and I have too much happening here professionally at the moment to leave.

Houston is not all that great. The only people who love it are people from there. The whole Dallas vs Houston thing is stupid too. They’re both never ending sprawls. People are boring. No culture. The shopping centers are all very similar. Traffic forces you to take toll roads which rack up quickly costing a fortune. The music scene is meh. So many places around Houston try so hard to be cajun it’s annoying. I will add that The Woodlands is a nice suburb. I don’t have anything bad to say about it. New Braunfels is my personal favorite city. I also like Brenham, Decatur, Paris, Huntsville, Lindale and Tyler. If I have to be tied to a major metro I’m going with San Antonio and living on the north or northwest region of it. Seems a little less cosmopolitan like the other metros and access to the outdoors is solid
Nailed it.
Boerne or Kerrville for my money.
Bandera if I could afford it.

Is Boerne really cheaper than Bandera? Idk if that’s the case anymore

I was thinking in terms of a massive ranch in Bandera vs a 2000ft home on a quarter acre in Boerne.

Lake Charles or Shreveport?
Posted on 5/5/22 at 1:13 pm to VolsOut4Harambe
None of them. We should give Texas back to Mexico faster than we currently are.

Best spot in Texas in my opinion. They also have great high schools and like you said on the amenities.

In my top 2 of BBQ. Their beef rib, and brisket is top notch.

Around Dallas. Probably in an area where you can send your kids to Highland Park High School. Its a public school and look at the list of people who graduated from there.

San Angelo / Tom Green county? I've spent some time in that area. It's been a while though. I rember the liitle communities east fof the city; Veribest, Wall, Eola... A whole lot of nothin out there. But some very nice folks.

Lakeway is a community that seems like it never gets mentioned on these sorts of discussions. Lesser known? My type of place.
Steiner Ranch steakhouse over looking the lake is great. Food and view wise.
