You 5.0 no issues people are full of shite.

I’ve been driving a 2011 5.0 lariat 4x4 since I bought it new

At 150k I had to replace the engine due to 1 cylinder having only 20% pressure

I’m at 221k now....but yeah there was definitely a 5k hit there at 150k miles...they’re not immune to trouble like all y’all saying

It really irritates me when somebody uses one personal experience to paint a whole line of motors

I sold mine at 140k and had a 2011 Lariat with the 5.0 with zero issues. I have 120k on 2016 with no issues. Only issue I’ve had on this one is my turn signal itself has a small issue that the wipers sometimes don’t want to turn off and I have to flip the switch a couple times to get it to take.

I have the 2.7 ecoboost and I pull a 5,600 lb dry weight camper with zero problems. Pulls like a dream. It could absolutely pull your 4k camper. However, I'd go with the 3.5L if I could do it all over again. When I bought the truck I had no plans to ever pull anything more than four wheelers.

Ford been making that 8cyl forever....

The current 5.0L is not the same as the previous 5.0L 302ci. The current 5.0 has been in production since 2011.

I had a 3.5L Ecooboost in my last F-150. It has plenty of power to pull your boat or camper it just comes down to if you want to hear the turbos or a naturally aspirated V8. I'm currently driving a GMC with a 5.3 and the 10spd tranny and it feels comparable to the Ecoboost coming off the line but gets way better MPG's both in town and on the highway. I haven't driven one of the 5.0L F-150's in several years so I can't tell you know it compares.

3.0 power stroke If they produce it.

But if they do I would at least test drive it. I started to pull the trigger on one last year. But only comes in the lariat and above. 440ftlbs of torque. Good fuel mileage also, will get even more with the right tune.

Had a 2011 5.0 I put 100k miles on pulling a lot of firewood and wet stumps around with no issues. Last week bought a 21 F150 and went back with the 5.0 again. They bumped up the power a little for the 21s to beat the Hemi numbers.

Probably so. There should be law against putting a shitty six cylinder engine in a full size pickup. I mean, if you drive a truck with a six cylinder you may as well say you drink those seltzer beers and enjoy looking at men in tight pants.

3.5 ecoboost has more hp and torque than the 5.0

The 2.7 has a towing capacity rating of 9000 pounds. Any one fo those engines will do the job. Go drive them and see which one you like more.

They would probably all tow either of those but the 3.5L is supposedly the best towing f150 "gas" engine (not sure about the f150 diesel engine). The 5.0 is a great though, but I'd get the 3.5 if towing was my primary concern. I stumbled into a 5.0L that I came across barely used and so far it has been great and the engine sounds better than my buddy's eco boost. But I think his (3.5L) may be faster, and its def faster off the draw.

Just curious on why. If the 2.7 pulls fine, why would you go with the 3.5? Does the 2.7 pull ok, but feels like its working a little too hard?
I'm deciding between the 2 is why I'm grilling you.

Having the 2.7L really limits your options on what you can pull. The towing capacity is much less than the 3.5L. The 2.7L also doesn't have much of a manly sound or feel to it. If that makes sense.

I never thought i'd pull a camper when i bought the truck. When we decided to buy a camper we had to be super picky about what my truck could pull. Now that we love the camper, our upgrade options are limited until I get a new truck.

The 2.7L is a good engine and has been good to me. My plan is to give this truck to my son in a couple years and I'll probably go buy the 3.5L in a 4x4.

Edit: I haven't noticed it working too hard, but the furthest I've pulled it is 2 hours from BR. Haven't touched any hills yet.

The 2.7 has a 9000lb towing capacity which would suffice for 90% of truck drivers. If you are regularly towing more than that you should probably get a 3/4 ton anyway.

I agree that it does sound a bit like a sewing machine but the performance is good.
