I was in the same place you were a few months ago between a loaded xlt and a base lariat. I ended up finding and going with a 2019 used lariat that was fairly loaded for cheaper than the loaded new xlt. If you are willing to buy a used truck that’s one or two years old you can get way more. Hard part is finding a lightly used truck near you.

5.0L V8.
Don’t touch the turbo V6 unless you plan on giving it up in 4-5 years.

The 5.0 is the correct answer, with caveats.
The 3.5 is a little better for towing and normal driving due to the low end torque. But the extra complexity and generally poor design of the engine means much higher maintenance costs and issues over time.
If you're the type of person who only owns a new vehicle for a few years and then trades it in for something new, then the 3.5 could work for you. It might even be the right answer if you tow a lot.
Anyone who wants to own the truck more than 5 years or 100k miles should stick with the 5.0.
If you want to read tons of horrifying stories about the 3.5, search "cam phaser" on any Raptor forum. Its definitely not just one or two of these engines having issues.

That's what I got. The websites don't do the color justice. You have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

Yes they do, I’ve had 2 eco boost raptors.
Eta, I try not to ride with the windows down, nothing like driving a mean looking truck that sounds like a Honda gold wing

None, I’m a Ray Ban wayfarer guy. Had the same pair for 26 years. Why do you ask?

Great looking trucks on the outside, but man the interiors of the chevys are just so plain. Even on the LTZs
I agree the GM trucks could use an interior upgrade, so much hard black plastic in my interior.
