This isn't the 1940s. There's a ton of literature and info on this topic readily available for anyone to read

I lived in a very rural area. The only Yakuza-related people in my village owned pachinko parlors which are big business. They weren't tatted up, by they received regular visits from thse who were. There are always formal layers in Japan.

Outside that they ran "the Floating world" in certain areas of larger cities-soaplands , hostess bars, blowjob bars. Most of these guys seem to be from the lower rungs of society, and many are of Korean ancestry or the Burakumin who are like a Japanese "unclean" caste that historically worked with dead bodies or tanneries or slaughterhouses and lived outside the edge of town. They also had apprentice-like teen/early 20's "Bosozuku" motorcycle gangs that were earning their stripes. These guys are famous for acting like asses on the highways.

I think Yakuza are very rare numbers-wise but they have all these regular people fronting for them everywhere.

Yep, same with football or anything else, but that doesn't mean anyone is an expert or keep people from acting like they are.

I don't know who is, but I know who is not. The Yakuza.

I was going to jump in and say the same thing. They actually do a lot of things that are quite legit because it benefits the local community. They came to meet with my personnel manager one time to see if we had openings for some local kids. When my guy explained that he only needed electrical engineers at the time, they said OK, thanked us for meeting with them, and went on their way.

I asked him what would happen if they wanted us to hire some random kid for one of the EE jobs, he said that they wouldn't do that because it would only bring shame to the kid and embarrassment to them because he wasn't qualified.

I know what you mean. I just don't see this thread as being an example. No one has made any ridiculous claims and it's been just a few posters having a back and forth.

Now if the thread was do you know anyone connected it would be filled with yea my uncles housekeepers sister used to go to a dentist who worked on some guys teeth who might have been a mob associate

I was told from a Russian friend that no one messes with gangsters from Chechnya. Watched some videos and seems they would place well in mafia Olympics.

I just read an article about how the Yakuza was starting to dwindle. The number of people involved with them has been steadily declining.

MS-13 is frightening as hell

At least the other countries you mentioned their mafia/ gangs have some semblance of honor and rules. Everybody is a target for MS-13

The Rothchilds can make the scariest mafia members piss themselves.

The banking cartel is the scariest. They control governments, wag wars, and cause economic destruction. Presidents, Czars, King, other rulers and countries that fight them are assassinated or brought to war.

PeteRose, what are the next games you will be betting on?

Now, on topic. I think the KGB is perceived at the scariest and maybe they are the scariest mafia from a "world power" country.

Why isn't there an American mafia?
