I probably would have said Visio, but I see you had issues. No warranty on that? Not even a visa 1 year extended on top of manufacturer's warranty??

Sony XBR55A1E OLED is the best TV on the market if you like to have hundreds of free TV apps because it has hands down the best app system on the market. It has far surpassed Samsung (subtle brag I have Samsung, Sony, and LG).

OP wants a 65" and under $900 and you suggest a 55" that is over 2 and a half times his budget...

To the OP the Samsung is the better of the two.

Not necessarily, I have both LG and Samsung in my house and my LG picture is better than my Samsung believe it or not...

Like with most things model makes more difference than the brand.

Out of curiosity which models and have they been calibrated?

Samsung, ftw. I’ve got a 46” Samsung that I got in 2008 or 2009 that is still running like a champ and still has a great picture.

Samsung all day everyday. I have a 65" curved, two 55" flats, and a 42" flat. Not a single problem from any of them. I also have a 55" Toshiba outside that I picked up for $279 at Best Buy during some recent sale. I just couldn't pass up that deal. The Toshiba has been solid, too. The 65" Samsung curved's picture is spectacular. I have that bad boy dialed in perfect. It did take a little bit of tweaking.

Within OP price range we felt LG had the best picture and by a fair margin. Better than Samsung which was higher priced.

We have no allegiance to either Korean TV maker just what we noticed.

What are the actual models of the TVs? Brand means very little in this case. Not all Samsungs are created equal, and same for the rest.
