Has anyone ever made that commute before? I've been caught in 5:00pm traffic trying to get into NOLA, and it's pretty terrible.
Made that commute for about 3 years, wasn't bad at all, when I was going out everyone was coming in, and when I was going back to the city, everyone was going out, only traffic was by the airport on the way back in. I still hate those POS who use the merging lane to cut traffic.

I don't have kids, so I don't need a large place, but would like enough room for a decent kitchen and a washer/dryer.
I like living the urban lifestyle where I can walk to bars and restaurants and have everything that I want to do close by.
I'm also a musician, so I love being able to see live music frequently, and I gig regularly. My band's practice space is in Baton Rouge, and most of my friends live in Baton Rouge or around Gonzales, with only a couple people living in New Orleans.
The flip side is that I HATE sitting in traffic with the fire of a 1000 angry suns.
I also enjoy the privacy that rural life can afford, so I can play loud music without getting the cops called. I also like the idea of having a back yard so I can have a dog and bbq, but I hate yard work (I grew up mowing 5+ acres every week with a push mower).
I'm not a huge fisherman, but I love boats and being out on the water.
New Orleans life would fit me like a glove, but if that commute would be anything like what I faced commuting from St. Amant to downtown BR every day, I won't be able to enjoy it so much.
That is extremely reassuring. 4 months of that nightmare commute I had before had me price shopping bullets to put in my head.

I got arrested in Laplace and I had all my court dates in Edgard. Only way I know that place even exist. Right next to the courthouse there is very old church. There is a graveyard behind it and my lawyer and I went to check it out one day when court was postponed for a few hours. There were graves there from the early 1800’s. There was a historical guy buried there but I don’t remember who it was. I just remember that my attorney recognized the name. It’s worth a few hours if you’re bored one day.

I moved to BR a few years ago and its the same thing, traffic coming in in the morning and out in afternoon is bad but I'm always going against it. Takes me about 45 minutes to get from Southdowns to Edgard, Hwy 61 keeps it interesting (plenty of turtle and gators to see) and I enjoy the commute to windup/down from work. Also you should splurge when it comes to bullets to the head, never go cheap

Based on that I would definitely rule out BC&E.
There’s really not much to do in st James parish and while the people are nice, I’ve always found that unless you’re from there you will never truly fit in.
Laplace is awful, I know, I grew up there.
West Jeff has all the same cons of east Jeff/New Orleans and none of the pros.
St Charles, specifically the east bank, could be something to consider. It’s a quiet suburban area with mostly families, however, it wouldn’t be a long ride to work for you and it’s a quick drive into the city for fun. You still have to drive though everywhere though.

Edgard has a cute little courthouse. I’d probably live somewhere in NOLA proper and commute but anywhere on the Westbank is going to make your travel much less stressful

I know a bunch of people that commute from Ascension. It's not bad traffic. Airline to the Grammercy bridge, then down 3127.

I know a guy who lives in uptown NOLA and commutes to Edgard every day, it takes about 45 minutes against traffic.

Believe C.T. Beauregard is buried in Edgard. The place is like going back in time. It was a big sugar hub back in the day. Know all the families that own the cane there and very few or none of them live in Edgard anymore.
The answer is to commute from Nola or Thib.

Whew man. Yikes.
Years ago in my youth I had a gig in Lutcher. First yr I did a trailer kinda in town. Ugh. Second year I did a apartment in Hwy 61 between Lutcher and Gonzales. This was thirty years ago. Year three was a different job btw.
Look for Gonzales and scoot up to Edgard. Maybe? Good luck.

That would be my first choice as well. Anything that can go wrong with a MS River Bridge or an Interstate is going to happen with frequency in Louisiana.
