For those who don’t know where that is, it’s on the West Bank roughly half way between the Luling Bridge and the Gramercy Bridge, and there’s nothing anywhere around there but sugarcane. The nearest sizable towns on that side of the river are Donaldsonville :yak: and Hahnville. LaPlace is close as the crow flies, but to get there would require driving all the way to Lutcher or all the way to Boutte.

I am single with no kids.

Should I
A. Commute from AP
B. Live in Lutcher/gramercy
C. Live in LaPlace
D. Live in Luling/Destrahan/Boutte/St. Rose
E. Live in West Jeff
F. Commute all the way from East Jeff or NOLA
G. Buy a canefield and start making moonshine

Also, Destrehan is on the east bank.

You know what, just stay away. We don’t want your kind here.

Funny story about Edgard.
There’s a barge cleaning plant on the river there. I was doing barge work, inspections, and was there at least once a week.

Met some of the workers there. Almost all black guys. One of them drove From Mississippi and back every day to work on the barges.

You cross the road and there’s a little convenience store. Every time i’d Pass, no matter the time of day, there would be able bodied men smoking and drinking out front.

The fact that some men would drive HOURS to provide for their family while others couldn’t be bothered to cross the street really showed me the true divide in some people.

Been driving by that store about once a week for the past 6 years or so, they are all still out there, drinking and smoking and not doing anything productive. There is always someone standing on the side of the rode trying to hitch a ride too and from the store. The only hope I have seen over there is the plantation homes would stay busy with film crews, besides that they did just get a little concrete plant by the bridge. OP I'd stay in Nola if I were you and wanted a social life.

Easy —-Thibodaux. High density of damn good looking women. Has some nice bars and restaurants. Can’t be but 30-40 minutes max to the plant.

It’s actually about the same driving distance as Prairieville and NOLA. Thibodaux is not a bad idea

H. Hahnville

Get you a nice plantation home on river road. You might get lucky and find that judge’s daughter and her friend.

Edgard is a great town to drive through and see what it was like living in the 50s/60s.

The court house sucks. I can’t believe it’s there and not in LaPlace.
