I'm sure I read about it on here.
That was a crazy time
Remember the doomsday seers that talked about a giant gas bubble under the leak that could explode and destroy south louisiana?
like i said.
Crazy times.

At 9:45 pm I was probably in bed trying to sleep. I remeber my uncle and I booked a condo for Destin that year. He went and the beaches were shut down. I decided to cancel and go to Galveston instead where there is oil in the water and on the beaches everyday and there would be no chance of a beach shutdown.

And you say we shouldn’t worry about British Petroleum, have you forgotten?

I was at work in Houston. First thought was trying to figure out if any of my oil and gas baw and bawette friends were on that rig. I did not know anyone, it turns out.
I was actually entering the final interview phase for a new job that would have moved me to Baton Rouge. The firm had a lot of oil and gas clients, and got cold feet, and decided to not hire anyone at that time.

On a cruise heading down the river. Stayed up until we got out there, got to see the glow before going to bed.

This is what I'm reminded of anytime the spill is brought up. Sorry but this is funny. This is the OT.

I can't remember where I was when I heard about the second biggest oil spill in US GOM history. However, I remember where I was when I heard about the biggest one. I was in Dallas. But first I was in San Francisco at a conference with a bunch of oilfield people. We had to cut the trip short because Hurricane Ivan was headed into the Gulf. My wife and I could not get a flight into NOLA in time to evacuate my children, so we had them evacuate on their own.
My oldest was 16, and she drove the four little ones to Shreveport in about 10 hours. We flew to Dallas, rented a car, and drove to Shreveport to meet them. Then we all drove back to Dallas.
Two days later one of my partners called to tell me that the surveillance flight to MC20 reported no sign of that four-pile. It's still leaking oil, and passed the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, in volume, a few years ago.
No one was killed, thank God. Just a lot of oil spilled.

Was fishing the Mad Dog platform in Green Canyon about 150 miles from Venice. Didn’t get back until a day after the explosion and as soon as we hit the mouth of South Pass we realized something happened. There was coast guard personnel everywhere.
