I was almost twenty one years old, and working out of state in Washington DC. By Christmas of 1988 I had been offered a job in Michigan(which I accepted) and then married my (now late) wife of twenty six years. Today would have been her birthday.

I was driving an Eddie Bauer edition Bronco II and living in a one bedroom apartment.

1988 was a good year for me, I will forever have fond memories of that year and time.

My birthday is coming up pretty soon, and I’m just curious, for those of you who were around at that time, where were you in 1988?

Depending on the month I was either in the 3rd or 4th grade. I played a lot of Nintendo, played whatever with my neighborhood friends, and would have just started organized football.

I turned 16 in 88. I didn’t get a car because we were somewhat poor. I listened to a lot of Motley Crue, Poison, Guns N Roses, while also still listening to the 80’s indie stuff - REM, The Cure, The Smiths, etc.

That summer was probably my favorite summer. Started working so had some spending money. Closest friends had cars and we did hood rat stuff all summer - drinking beer when we could get it, smoking terrible weed when we could get it, riding around being dumb teenagers.

University of Oklahoma having the time of my life. OU played in national titles in both football and basketball. The Big 8 had so many NBA players. The coaches were characters.

Plus the kitty was everywhere.
