I did "Wine on the River" this year and got trashed on all you can drink wine and booze for like 50 bucks with some live jazz playing in the background. It was a nice event.

First thing I thought when I went to Barton springs is that we could never have anything like that here...people would be washing clothes in it

There are more people in the Houston metro than the entire state of Louisiana. Of course it will have things that BR doesn't.
shite is such a cop out. There's plenty of smaller (many a good bit smaller than BR) very vibrant cities all over.

I did jump in it nekkid in the 90s. But to be fair a bunch of rugby players did that.

Highland Rd park has some nice running trails and is a nice park overall. There are running trails along the levee. There is more to do in BR than most give credit for. Live after 5, Sundays in the park are two live music events downtown that are free. If you are hanging around people that have your same attitude, that might be why none of you all know what to do with your free time. Stop getting drunk off Michelob Ultra on your patio in Central and get up off your arse and find something to do.
Port Hudson has walking trails and is a civil war historic site that is very well maintained.
There are things to do, you just have to get out and do them.

OP is a frickin RETARD.
Other than the Indoor track and playground, these BREC parks are within 5 miles of my house.
Baton Rouge hosting a HUGE Regional Soccer Tournament at BRECs Burbank Soccer Complex
Perkins Road Community Park
Bluebonnet Swamp
Highland Road Park Observatory
N Sherwood Park with INDOOR TRACK AND PLAYGROUND
PortHudson Playa is a "grass is greener" guy and won't be happy until he's got a Starbucks Manager Balls Deep in him every night in their studio apartment over-looking Alki Beach.

Theres actually some pretty cool stuff in the pipeline from BREC (from the imagine your parks 2 tax that was passed).
What I'm really excited about is CAPP and the greenway and blueway projects:
LINK
Portions of this are already in place. Rent a kayak from Massey's and go check out the boat launch at HRP one Saturday morning.

EDIT: Well shite, on the preview, the strikethrough showed up fine. I'm leaving the janky fricked up version as a protest to Chicken.
We need to drag Tigerdroppings firmly into 1998 and have proper bulletin board markup tools... and a search function.
