Cajun Country. This area, also called Acadiana (though you won't find that on the maps) has a history and culture unique in America. It consists of a rough triangle of Louisiana made up of 22 parishes (counties), from St. Landry at the top of the triangle to the Gulf of Mexico at its base.
Since cajun is merely a brand of redneck, this area is both cajun and redneck.

I know people in my area that desperately want to be Cajun, even putting on some weird Acadiana accent when we all know we are closer to Mississippi redneck than anything south of I10

Not entirely German, but there is a huge presence.

IMO,it’s a different world once you cross highway 10 going north on 13.

Yes, and they’re only a few miles apart. Totally different accents. Same thing heading west, Basile is coon arse, and a few miles later the accent is twangy

That is so weird to me. I don’t see how that even happens. What if you’re coonass and got buddies in the next town over that aren’t?

If you start at the northeast corner ov avoyelles and go west till you hit the red as it’s flowing south at the Moncla bridge just west of marksville. Draw a straight line south to the bunkie overpass till you hit I 49. Go south on 49 till you hit I-10 and go west to the Texas border.

was in breaux bridge one day and walked into a corner store. heard a couple guys speaking french behind the counter and they kinda looked at me sideways when i walked in. they assumed i couldn't understand and went ahead talking about some black people in town they didn't like. when i asked for directions in french, they got real quiet and had the funniest looks on their faces. we spent the next few minutes talking about cajun culture and how none of their kids or grandkids spoke french, they seemed pretty sad about it.
