I was raised on the border. Had I gone to school 2 miles north, in Bayou Chicot, i would have a twang. Instead, i went to school 5 miles south, in ville platte, and have an extrememly flat accent.

Not a clear line, more like a sort of DMZ from Ville Platte to Alexandria.

Lake Charles definitely is not Cajun. The cutoff heading west along 10 is probably Lacassine or Iowa.

I consider echo cajun...lecompte is a field town, might be a Cajun remnant, but it's full of farm baws

While I agree with your map 100% my only question is, how does this happen historically? Like it really makes no sense to me. If I were a huge river like the Mississippi or something I could see why, but I don’t understand how one place can be Cajun then you cross a small creek and it’s all of a sudden twangy redneck...

I always thought that cottonport was redneck. Met a few there and the are the typical duck commander hat wearing type of people

A migration issue. Some cajuns moved a bit North over time while some rednecks were heading South.

1. Does our diversity make us great?

2. Like the Dakotas and Carolinas, would we be better off being split to two states: North Louisiana and South Louisiana?
