Why? It's not the government's place to tell people where they can or can not lose or spend money.

It's personal responsibility and Darwinism. Plus, those suckers that lose it all at the tables and slots give revenue to a state that definitely needs it.

I personally think it's terrible public policy to have legalized gambling it takes an awful toll on the community. BUT it would be one thing if the people voted to have "gaming." The will of the people must be respected, but that isn't how it happened. The casino lobby bought out the legislature and the Governor. It's a disgrace how it happened.

It's a disgrace to the state that crooked arse John Edwards allowed them here.

I used to work at a casino. Yes there are people who do not belong there. But when I play there (and it has been awhile), I bring a set amount of money, leave my credit card at home, and play for enjoyment, a night out.

I do the same but you have to admit, when you look around it is awfully depressing. Especially at the slots. The tables are not quite as bad but not by a lot.

Now that place is awesome.

in all fairness, DD is trying to get its act together, but the track- barns, backside- is turrible. I won't even discuss the patrons.

They are near the bottom of any list.
Just sad to see the people in those places.

I've never been to Vegas nor do I care for gambling. But I go a few times a year to local places in BR

Vegas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any casino in BR.

You don't have to gamble to have fun and enjoy the scenery in Vegas. In BR it's just a bunch of old people and degenerates.

Yes, Vegas has lots of fun things to do...But when the night kicks in at the Vegas casinos they're all just alike, one big smelly nasty haze of cigarette smoke.

wait, in the new or old casinos? I didn't find Bellagio or Mandalay bad at all smoke-wise.

Top 3 for me, only behind Ferriday, LA and your local DMV office.

Not even close to the airport designated smoking rooms.

Now that's a depressing place especially after a big race. I use to go to the one in Port Allen to place a bet on the Kentucky Derby and sometimes I would place a bet on the Preakness & Belmont.. So on average I guess I went there maybe twice a year. The few times I won and went cash in, I felt unclean when I got out of there. The people in there are just nasty..

One time I saw some old dude looking through the garbage can. I overheard him telling someone he was looking to see if anyone accidently through away a winning ticket.. He had no shame. But it is depressing. It is one place I felt completely uncomfortable having money out at. As soon as they handed me my money, I would put it up before moving from the window then put on a sad face because I didn't want to give anyone the idea I had any type of money on me.

The riverboats in downtown BR are awfully sad places. There are people gambling there who look like they may not have enough money to buy food and/or medicine. L'Auberge isn't too bad. At least the clientele looks middle class.

I like gambling, we probably go to Biloxi once a year. But they don't build casinos because of people like me. I win $100, I'm happy. I lose $100, I'm depressed.

I agree. The slots are where it can be depressing. I worked the cages(cashier) and during the graveyard shift, there would be a least one elderly person who would say that they spent all of their retirement money and they have to go back to work.
