I find them uplifting and helpful to my self esteem.
I walk in, look around at the pitiful patrons, and think, "God damn, I am one handsome and well dressed son of a bitch. And my wife is fricking gorgeous."
If in need of a more serious boost, hit the dog track in Pensacola. Unfortunately, they spruced it up a bit a few years ago and took away much of what I loved about it.
