That plus figuring out a strategy to get West Bank workers over the river without using the 10 bridge.
toll tax the ever loving shite out of them for being so stupid to commute across the damn river twice a day adding to the clusterfrick and bitching about what they create. Be a normal person and relocate to a more viable living arrangement and quit putting pressure on shared resources with your selfishness and then laying on the horn bitching about it when you are stuck on the bridge.

There are no decent schools on the west bank. That’s why they have to commute.

It would not surprise me that 30% of the traffic on the bridge is through traffic transversing the state—-maybe 60% of the truck traffic.

There are no north southeast interstates till you get to I55 traveling from Texas

Look at how much the truck traffic changes after you pass i65

An alternative that does not travel through LC,LAF and BR would be wildly popular I believe. The miles to I 55 would probably be a little less

That is the most ridiculous route I’ve ever seen when this subject is brought up. People in LA want their politicians to quit wasting money, yet you propose a road that will average 7 cars per day. GTFO

If they can ever get through with I-69, it will take care of a good chunk of the Get Gordon traffic.

How economical would it be to build a new interstate from North of Vinton to Amite (about 210 miles when connected to 10 and I55.
It would draw 20,000 vehicles?

Remember you have to cross numerous rivers and two spillways. It would be an expensive proposition. Cost?

And it would take how many years to complete and still not alleviate many of the traffic issues around BR metro.

Spending more money to make a poorly planned bridge relevant is just throwing more money away.

This was the graphic from the Advocate back in July, which matches up with Osteen's graphic.

Problem is, the graphic is not grounded in reality.

Folks can talk all day about where we think the bridge should connect in terms of points on land, but what people are forgetting is that the river is used daily by ships, barges etc. for commercial navigation.

The U.S. Coast Guard essentially has final say on control of bridges, bridge heights and bridge placement locations along navigable waterways in the U.S.

And there ain't no way they would allow bridges to be constructed on bends in the river, like at Options 1, 2, 3 and 4. It's a hindrance to navigation; it's just asking for trouble putting a bridge in such a spot.

Take a look on Google Earth at ALL of the bridge crossing locations along the Mississippi, from New Orleans all the way up past Memphis. Bridges are placed on relative "straightaway" sections, not at bends.

I was under the impression that all of the five locations shown were approved.

If not what is the point of that map?

Can a bridge be constructed next to the current one with an elevated expressway over interstate 10 through Baton Rouge? Is that feasible?
