I think it's been well over a decade for me. Curious what they're used for these days.

Terrible memories of ending up behind a woman at the food store paying with a check who didn't think to start filling it out until after it was all scanned and totaled.

I rarely do, but it's usually to my parents. They're very old-school.

I use them all the time at work. For personal finance, I use a few mom and pop places that do not have websites for you to pay

I used to have to write one for school fees occasionally, but even that's been 4-5 years now. I don't think I have any checks.

No kids in school?

I feel like we write one every week for some other shite they need to get or some fundraiser.

I write maybe a couple a month. Sometimes if it's a new bill from someone I will never have to pay again and I don't want to set them up on on-line bill pay, I just mail a check.

And I still encounter some small service related people that don't accept on-line payments, etc.

Yesterday at the grocery. Got all checked out, and was ready to pay. Realize I'd left the checkbook in the car and had to run out to get it. Checkout girl was nice enough to wait on me to go get it. Held up the line a bit, but I'm sure the people didn't mind.

Still occasionally for random stuff. Paying a handyman (plumber, hvac, etc), sometimes use a check instead of venmo to pay my lawn guy if I catch him at the house.

Rare, but did one for a tax return amendment and one to the local volunteer fire department because I didn't have cash when they came by collecting. Wish they would hurry up and clear.
