Just last week, I had to stop for gas. I was in the least populated, incorporated town, in the least populated county in the entire State of Alabama. The gas pump card reader didn't work so I had to go in and have Mr. Patel swipe my corporate card. A few miles down the road, I wished I had asked how does someone from the other side of the Earth end up in town in Alabama that doesn't even have a red light. Seriously the main intersection is a 4-way stop.

I did end up buying a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit that most gas station sell in rural gas stations. There is no way Mrs. Patel made that biscuit!

Thank you for not saying “literally” in your post. I was expecting it multiple times but it didn’t happen. Thank you. You give me hope.

Nope. Everything I typed is 100% factual.

I rarely walk into a gas station, like most, but here is central Alabama, they are always an Indian behind the counter. Last month, me and Mrs. Goose went on a cruise. Stayed overnight at a new Wyndham hotel in Tampa. Everyone who worked there was from India.

If a person has there heart set on meeting and talking to someone from India, go to a gas station or a motel. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

And don’t buy any candy bar that can melt because it is likely the case that it has melted and then re-solidified.
I believe they buy the candy that the legit chain stores throw out or has been stored somewhere in a shed or something not climate controlled.
It happened a few times, so I definitely saw a pattern.

I think most these days are corporate owned, unless you go to some skanky one in the hood.

I had a large scale project rolling out a new software application for Chevron a few years ago. I had to go do a pilot in Salt Lake. Franchisee owned a dozen gas stations in the area. Dude was making bank. White guy, GED. Inherited some money and bought one, then another, then another. He was telling me about these games he played with cig manufacturer rebates and his own loyalty program.

I’ve not talked to another gas station owner in my life.

The Chevron stations in Rapides are locally owned and 3 of them are fantastic whiskey stores.

Like most things we realize something is happening after it’s far too late to do anything about it. It’s not just gas stations. It’s also fast food restaurants. Keep hairy people away from food.

Yesterday morning and afternoon. There is one about 1/8 mile from my house. I know the owners quite well.

Exactly. At least some groups still have a hard work makes money ethic these days.
Why criticize?
