So a guy wearing regular shorts looks like he's "passing his depends", but a guy wearing the same shorts as a 5th grader is soooooo cool .

I'm just guessing here, but I bet the cargo short vs plain short crowds look almost identical to the sidewalk fan vs alumni crowds.

You wouldn't wear those on an overnight hike, or lugging your kids stuff around at an amusement park. There is a time and place for cargo shorts, just like their is a time and place for other attire. I cut my old cammies into cargo shorts for those hotter days in the outdoors. And fwiw, ragging on cargo shorts, but accepting boat shoes and fishing shirts in everyday wear, or geek straps in a suit, just reeks of hypocrisy.

No, but I wouldn't be wearing cargo shorts, either.

Actually, I have two kids and have done amusement parks on several occasions wearing standard flat front shorts.

All of the fifth graders I hang out with wear regular non-cargo shorts.

All you need is dark socks and patent leather shoes to complete your wardrobe. Don't forget to change your depends, you geriatric dick.

Never.

Why hate something that is both comfortable and useful?

You should focus more on grammar and less on other peoples shorts.
